Performance
The 3.6-liter V6 is replaced by an all-new 2.5-liter, turbocharged inline-4 engine for all 2024 Traverse models. It produces 315 horsepower and has a peak torque of 317 lb-ft. Both of these figures exceed that of the V-6. The twin-clutch AWD system returns in an improved form as part of the standard drivetrain on the new Z71 grade. The system includes an auto-locking rear differential that enables the vehicle to independently control torque to each rear wheel based on conditions. Traverse has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Exterior
The stronger drivetrain is matched by a tougher, more truck-like exterior. The new split grill design borrows from Chevrolet’s pickup trucks, and the rest of the body is given a squared-off look and broad-shouldered stance. LED front and rear lighting are standard across the model line, as is an authentic dual exhaust system with quad chrome outlets. Above the LT and LS, the model line moves in two distinct directions. The RS is the sport model with Camaro influences such as a black grille, 22-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels, as well as a new panoramic dual-glass sunroof with a power sunshade. The Z71 aims for fun off the pavement with skid plates, tow hooks, and all-terrain tires over 18-inch black machine-finished alloy wheels. The panoramic dual-glass sunroof is available on the Z71 and LT trims.
Interior
In contrast to the rugged exterior, the interior features an elegant horizontal-themed dash topped with a standard best-in-class 17.7-inch diagonal touchscreen as its literal centerpiece. An 11-inch digital driver information center is also standard. Convenient storage areas are found throughout the cabin, and between the front seats is a unique pass-through console design that is easily accessible, yet tucked away, for a clean appearance.
LS models have 8-passenger seating with a three-passenger 2nd-row bench seat with 60/40 split rear seatbacks. LT, RS, and Z71 models have second-row captain’s chairs for a 7-passenger capacity. The chairs feature SmartSlide, which eases access to the third row, even when a child seat is installed.
The third-row seat has room for three, but can also be configured for two or one to maximize available cargo space with 60/40-split seat backs. With both 2nd and 3rd-row seats down, you will find a cavernous best-in-class 98 cubic feet of cargo space. Making access to that space easier is an available new Smart Sense Liftgate that recognizes your presence and opens up without having to access your keys or search for sensors.
Technology
The impressive GM SuperCruise system is now available on the Traverse, enabling true hands-off driving on up to 400,000 miles of roads in North America. The system even has automatic lane-change capability. Other available driver-assist features include lane change assist while towing, enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, and Driver Attention Assist. The 17.7-inch touchscreen is easy-to-use with an icon-based operating system. Wireless phone charging is available, as is the ability to create a Wi-Fi hotspot for devices. Keeping those devices charged are six USB ports spread throughout the cabin.
Safety
Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every 2024 Traverse. This suite of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies includes:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- IntelliBeam® High Beam Assist
- Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
Also standard is HD Surround Vision, Lane Change and Blind Zone alerts, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, and much more. A Buckle to Drive system is standard on all Traverse to ensure that the driver and front passenger are buckled before driving. A Rear Seat Belt Reminder alerts the driver if a 2nd or 3rd-row passenger has unbuckled their seatbelt.
