KBB Looks At The Silverado EV And Finds Features They Love
The wait is finally over. Chevrolet rolled out the all-new Silverado EV a short while ago, which offers a superior range and technology to competing trucks on sale. The pickup truck will become more widely available in 2025, expanding from its initial offering to a multiple-trim lineup with choices for almost any buyer. Here are some of the things we love about the new truck that we think will make it the electric workhorse for you and your needs.
Extended Battery Range
The Silverado EV offers up to 440 miles of range in the RST configuration, while the 4WT offers 450 miles. The 3WT delivers up to 393 miles. All of those numbers are exceptionally strong compared to the Silverado’s competitors, where the Cybertruck tops out at 325 miles of range and the Ford F-150 Lightning at 320 miles. Additionally, DC fast charging at up to 350 kW returns 100 miles of range in just ten minutes.
Advanced Technology
Chevy threw a kitchen sink full of tech at the Silverado EV. It comes standard with an 11-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster. Higher trims get a 17.7-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital cluster. The new General Motors infotainment interface is powered by Google, which brings a wealth of features, such as Maps, Play Store integration, Google Assistant, and more. Beyond that, Chevy left many physical buttons in place for climate and other controls, which makes the Silverado easier to use and less distracting while driving.
Robust Functionality and Convenient Features
The Silverado EV is a truck, after all, so it has to be able to do all of the “truck stuff” that owners demand. It features a long list of clever storage solutions, including a lockable weatherproof front trunk (frunk) that Chevy said is deep enough to hold a large suitcase. Inside, the center console in some variants offers more than seven gallons of storage capacity, large enough for a lunch cooler.
Some trims also get Chevy’s innovative Multi-Flex Midgate, a folding partition between the cab and bed that allows owners to carry longer cargo without impeding interior passenger space. When open, it extends the bed to more than nine feet long. The rear seats also fold in a 60/40 split, opening the rear of the cab with a massive storage space for sensitive gear that needs to be stored inside.
Finally, the EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds and offers 1,500 pounds of payload capacity. Those numbers rival many gas trucks’ capabilities and make the Silverado EV a real workhorse for the people who need it most.
