Despite rumors of Chevrolet’s Malibu, it’s now known that there are plans for a new generation set to be released for 2025. If you’ve been a fan of the Malibu since its first release in the 60s, this should come as good news for Chevrolet’s last sedan. You can learn more about plans for this next generation of Malibu as more information is released here at Dieffenbach GM Superstore.

Present and Future of the Chevy Malibu

The rumors of Malibu’s end came as no surprise as crossovers and SUVs have continued to take over the automotive market in recent years. However, the Malibu is proof that there is still a large market for mid-sized sedans, which is why Chevrolet has continued to produce it for one more generation (at least). It’s no surprise since the current generation of Malibu continues to achieve award-winning status, including J.D. Power’s Highest Ranked Midsize Car in Initial Quality. It also features a suite of advanced driver assist and safety features which are expected to be included and expanded upon in the 2025 release.

There isn’t much known since production hasn’t started yet, but we’re excited to share what we do know. Plans include keeping the combustion engine for now, even as most other vehicles in their lineup are moving toward electric power. It’s also expected to have a larger platform compared to today’s style, built on the VSS-F Platform. In addition to a larger platform, a longer body is in the works that could be similar to the current body style. Production is expected to ramp up in 2025 at GM’s Kansas plant.
